The State of the Gameslinger

I'm back from Gateway, where I had a fantastic time at something we dubbed BarCon. I managed to fit in two games of FAB: Bulge (thanks to my friend David), two games of Hammer of the Scots (which placed me second in the tournament), and three games of Zombie Cinema (which you'll be hearing more about on the next episode of The Voice). I drove home on Monday to run the last session of our group's run through The Keep on the Shadowfell, and due to Ted's flight being delayed, I had time to fit in a fourth game of Zombie Cinema before he arrived. All in all, not a bad weekend of gaming.

On the creative front, I sent the first complete draft of Penny off to my editor right before I left for the con. I'm looking forward to seeing what Ryan thinks of it. I also sent in a pitch for some freelance work yesterday, and I'm hoping I get a chance to work on that project. It's been a while since I've been interested in writing for someone else, but this one has me excited. More as that develops.

I was about to say that convention season is over, but I've got one more coming up: the third installment of the Nerdly Beach Party is September 19-21 at San Simeon State Beach. Things should settle down a little after that point. I have been able to slip in a few games of Agricola here and there, and last weekend Mike and I played a pair of games of Twilight Struggle, so I can't exactly complain about not getting any gaming in. Still, I have a few ideas for some podcast episodes that I haven't found time to put together yet. Hopefully you'll be seeing those soon.

And that's it for now.
