Three News Items For Today
Monday, August 25, 2008 at 2:28AM
First, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Bruce Baugh mentioned HG,WT: For A Few Games More in his first podcast round-up over on Tor.com. I've always respected Bruce's opinions, so when he says kind things about the show, I have to shove my usual self-deprecation out of the way. More seriously, Bruce's comments demonstrate exactly the qualities I strive for: informative, concise, and with a clear authorial voice. Thanks for the kind words, Bruce.
Second, today is Mur Lafferty Day. Mur (known as the Grande Dame of Podcasting to her friends) is hoping that people everywhere will celebrate the release of her first novel, Playing For Keeps, by going to Amazon.com and ordering it. Pay no attention to the fact that Amazon says it's out of stock; that's an artifact of Amazon's inventory system. Mur is one of those people I don't get to spent enough time with (we see each other once a year, at Origins), and I want to help make today special for her. Oh, and did I mention it's a book about superheroes?
Third, I'll be in Los Angeles this weekend for Gateway, the third of the yearly Strategicons. I'll be manning the Indie Press Revolution booth alongside the inimitable Josh Roby. If you can't find me during the day in the dealers' room, check the Top of the Radisson, which I fell in love with at OrcCon.
And that's it for today.
